Three years ago today, Mitch McConnell tried to silence Elizabeth Warren -- and silence the words of Coretta Scott King -- on the floor of the U.S. Senate.

"Senator Warren was giving a lengthy speech. She had appeared to violate the rule. She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless, she persisted," he said.

Since then, "persist" has become a rallying cry. Because that night three years ago wasn't about Elizabeth. It was about every single person who was tired of being told to sit down and shut up.

And today, it's a powerful reminder that change doesn't happen all at once -- it takes every single one of us, fighting hard every day for what we believe in.

Because if we don't fight, we can't win -- and when we persist together, big, structural change can happen.

Today we celebrate all the members of our movement who persist. Click here to get your "persist" shirts, mugs, buttons, and more today to support this grassroots campaign.
