John,
Last month the Trump administration finalized its plan to make major cuts to the SNAP food benefits program. If they thought this sweeping rollback would go unnoticed - they were wrong.
Even at a glance, the implications are disastrous. Hundreds of thousands of Americans will lose assistance that they rely on to feed themselves between jobs. More than 20,000 people in Oregon could be cut off by April.
I'm sponsoring a petition with California Attorney General Xavier Becerra to send a message to the Trump administration: when you target our most vulnerable, we will take notice and we will take action.
No cuts to SNAP! Sign the petition.

For over 40 years SNAP (previously Food Stamps) assistance has helped struggling Oregonians keep food on the table while they get their feet under them financially.
Why the president of the richest country in the world wants to sabotage food security is perplexing - it's hard to imagine how letting some of our most vulnerable neighbors go hungry will lead to anything besides undue suffering and anxiety.
It's cruel. It's unlawful.
That's why I did not hesitate to challenge this cold-blooded policy, and neither did the other Attorneys General who joined in filing suit, from 14 other states, Washington D.C. and New York City.
I will update you on the progress of our lawsuit. But right now, I need your help: sign the petition and tell the Trump administration: when you target our most vulnerable, we will take notice and we will take action.
Ellen
