Hey folks,
Today, a role model, champion for Delaware and a good friend of mine announced after 46 years in public service, he's retiring after his term is up in 2024.
It would be impossible to even partially capture the accomplishments that Senator Carper has had in his over four decades of service to our state and nation – the list is as long as it is impressive.
My team and I are collecting signatures to thank Senator Carper for everything he’s done for the people of Delaware and beyond. Will you add your name to thank him for his dedication and unwavering commitment to public service?
I first met then-Congressman Carper at a town hall meeting. I was holding my son on my hip – and even though I didn't know it yet – I was pregnant with my daughter. I went up to him and asked him a question, and we started talking about all of the issues affecting our state. That's when he encouraged me to apply for an internship in his office.
After that, I became a full-time staffer, handling constituent services, and I even had the honor of following him to Dover when he became our state's 71st Governor.
If it weren't for Senator Carper encouraging me to apply for an internship all those years ago, I may never have run for office. My experience isn't unique. Almost every Delawarean can point to a time when Tom took the time to get to know them and encourage them. So thank you, Tom, for everything you've done for me, the people of Delaware, and the country.
