Friends -
Earlier this month, I submitted the People Over Parking Act of 2023 to Congress, a bill in the U.S. House of Representatives that eliminates parking minimums across the country in transit-rich zones.
This is an important bill for our climate and a step toward increasing affordable housing, so I am very proud to be introducing it in the House.
While we confront a nationwide housing crisis — running 3.8 million homes short of demand — eliminating parking requirements will allow families and first-time homeowners to access affordable housing near public transportation.
Eliminating parking requirements will lower the costs to build new homes and businesses, and therefore make homes more affordable and accessible and create sustainable transit-oriented communities.
It’s good housing and climate policy.
This bill is important to me because it’s bills like these that will directly help the lives of Americans long-term. It is a step toward eliminating economic inequality in transit-rich and high-density areas, while also actively protecting our environment.
So please add your name to become a citizen co-sponsor of my People Over Parking Act of 2023. [[link removed]]

Adding your name may seem like a small act, but knowing I have your support is meaningful to me and helps show other members of Congress that the people support this idea.
Thank you for listening,
Robert
