Today, Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) officially launched his campaign for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. Catch up on his stance on voting rights here. [link removed]

Here are some updates from the last few days.

After canceling its Saturday session, the Texas House is scheduled to vote on three dangerous election bills today:
Senate Bill 1070 would pave the way for the state to leave the voter data organization ERIC, [link removed]
Senate Bill 1750 would eliminate the election administrator position in Harris County and [link removed]
Senate Bill 1933 would allow for state officials to take over local election systems. [link removed]

Today, there was a hearing in a federal lawsuit challenging a law in Mississippi that would create a separate, unelected court system in Jackson. [link removed]

Last Thursday, Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes (D) reversed a prior opinion written by her predecessor, former Attorney General Mark Brnovich (R), which permitted counties to conduct hand count audits.
Despite that, today, Arizona Senate Majority Leader Sonny Borelli (R) sent a letter to all 15 counties stating that electronic voting machines cannot be used unless they comply with a nonbinding resolution. Both developments suggest another legal fight over hand counting ballots in Arizona could be brewing. [link removed]

On Sunday, the League of Women Voters of Arizona announced a settlement agreement in a lawsuit challenging drop box monitoring practices during the 2022 midterms in Arizona. [link removed]
