Families are not a bargaining chip.

Dear John,

Right now, Congress is negotiating a debt ceiling deal that could impact millions of people in this country.

At a time when costs for families are already skyrocketing, extremist politicians have a plan that would harm millions of women and families and push them into poverty by cutting essential programs. We can’t let this happen.

Tell Congress to Pass a Clean Debt Ceiling Bill

We need care, not cuts.

TAKE ACTION

This has real consequences for people’s lives. Here are just some of the things at stake:

  • Food assistance for over 2.5 million people
  • Income assistance for the families of one million children in poverty
  • Affordable housing for 800,000 families
  • Health coverage for over 10 million people

Let’s be clear: Congress has voted to increase the debt ceiling many times in the past. This is a manufactured crisis, and extremist politicians are using families and those who need support the most as political leverage. People’s livelihoods are NOT bargaining chips for Congress to raise the debt ceiling.

Time is running out. Contact your representatives today.
