John, Summer knows we CAN NOT cave to the GOP's attacks on parents, children, poor folks, seniors, veterans, and working-class families. If the GOP has its way, 519,000 Pennsylvanians would be at risk of losing Medicaid, almost 100,000 Pennsylvanians would lose food assistance, and child care would be eliminated for over 15,000 PA children.
That's why Summer spoke on the House floor last week to share the truth: This has never been about the budget for Republicans. It's about giving their rich donors a handout big enough to buy another yacht — no matter if it keeps kids out of classrooms or strips earned benefits away from the elderly.
As someone who relied on many of these programs, Summer knows Republicans are playing with real people's lives. Growing up, Summer and her mother depended on food assistance from SNAP and health care from Medicaid, and Summer became the first in her family to go to college because of a Pell Grant.
Republicans are trying to fool us into thinking they genuinely care about spending. They don't.
We won't let the GOP force a false choice between tearing away lifelines for working families and default. Please, will you chip in now to power Summer's fight to protect those at greatest risk under the GOP's plan?
