Friend,
Right now, Congress and President Biden are locked in negotiation over the debt ceiling. There's a lot of finger-pointing going on, and we wanted to help clear that up.
The United States being in debt is nothing new. In fact, economists think it's generally a good thing.
Congress coming together to raise the debt ceiling is also nothing new. Since 1960, the debt ceiling has been raised by Congress 78 times — and 49 of those have been under Republican presidents!
But now, Republicans, including Kirsten's opponent, are holding the American people hostage. They're threatening to make us pay for the debt by slashing crucial programs — or they'll let the United States default on our debt, sending the global economy into a downward spiral.
They're playing politics — introducing absurd budget cuts that would only hurt their constituents in an effort to mess with Democrats.
At a time when Juan Ciscomani should be focused on investing in veterans' healthcare, strengthening our schools, and supporting our seniors, he's voting YES on a bill that would take away funding from all of those causes.
This vote was purely political. Ciscomani is exposing himself as someone who cares more about the agendas of extremist Republicans than the people who elected them.
Arizona's Sixth Congressional District deserves so much better than that. Kirsten Engel will actually fight for the people in Southern Arizona. Will you help us build as strong of a campaign as possible so we can elect Kirsten and get Ciscomani out of Congress?
