John,
As you know, I love dogs. You might remember our campaign dog Cali - she’s as cute as ever and still very interested in treats. Dogs are a huge part of my life, Pam and I have fostered dozens of pups the past few years. We love it because there’s nothing that can give you more love and energy than a dog.
Recently I heard a story near my district that broke my heart though - over 150 dogs were rescued from a horrific puppy mill. I genuinely couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that someone would intentionally hurt these dogs. So I started digging into it. Turns out, the Humane Society estimates there are currently 10,000 of these puppy mills across the United States! Many of these puppies are stuck in crates all day, never go outside, and are dying from malnutrition. It’s just terrible.
Because of this research however, I’m proud to say you’re looking at the newest co-sponsor of the Puppy Protection Act. This is a super important bill that raises the legal standards to ensure all dogs are treated with basic necessities such as food, water, and vet care.
If you agree this is something we need to pass, will you please add your name to support the Puppy Protection Act today?
And if you’re looking to have a 4-legged friend join your family, I also strongly encourage you to visit your local animal shelter. There are so many good dogs looking for their forever home.
Send me your puppy pics if you do!
- Josh
