Earlier today, Republican Senator from South Carolina Tim Scott announced his bid for the 2024 presidential election, joining GOP big-names like Donald Trump, and Nikki Haley. And while he might not have the radical record of Trump, we can’t let that fool us: he WILL be as extreme, if not more so, as the rest of his Republican counterparts. We can not afford 4 years of a President beholden to extremist GOP ideology. Do your part and make a donation to DPNM to ensure that Democrats can put up a strong enough fight to deter any GOP candidate from taking office in 2024.

Senator Scott refers to himself as “strongly pro-life,” promises to sign the “most conservative” nationwide abortion ban, and affirms that he stands with South Carolinans’ decision to “protect the traditional definition of marriage.” He also voted NO on the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which will take actionable steps to protect communities from senseless gun violence. 

The increasingly divided Republican Party seems to be doing whatever it takes to draw attention away from Trump and steer their Party in the direction of a less outwardly chaotic character. But we know one thing for a fact: no matter who it is or how they present themselves to the public, every single Republican running will advocate for dangerous policies that are detrimental for Americans and will send us back years in progress. 

Just like Tim Scott, every GOP presidential candidate is racing to the right by  advocating for federal abortion bans, discriminatory anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation, and reckless gun policies that are responsible for the deaths of children in schools and everyday people going about their daily lives. Rush a donation to the Democratic Party of New Mexico to give Democrats the highest chances of defeating whoever the next GOP candidate for president will be. After all, the stakes are too high to sit idly by and let Republicans take away our rights and destroy our nation.
