As I know you believe too, we CANNOT default on America.
Last week, I joined hundreds of my colleagues and signed a discharge petition to force a vote on a bill to protect our economy from default.
Unfortunately, many in Congress will not join this effort or support most any deal that the President and House and Senate leaders develop.
To be clear, default will be catastrophic. Millions will lose their jobs, unemployment could skyrocket to as high as 8 percent, prices would soar, and folks wouldn’t receive their Social Security checks or be able to access healthcare.
I’ll continue to be with the responsible, pragmatic leaders that will ensure we avoid default.
