President Trump Promotes Life and Religious Freedom in State of the Union In what is being called one of the most pro-life, pro-family State of the Union speeches delivered by a modern president, President Donald Trump boldly reaffirmed his commitment to protecting life and religious freedom on Tuesday evening in a joint session of Congress. On life, one of Trump’s special guests was Ellie Schneider, who was born at 21 weeks and six days and is one of the youngest premature babies ever to survive in the United States. After highlighting Ellie, Trump went on to call on Congress “...to pass legislation finally banning the late-term abortion of babies.” President Trump also highlighted the significant work his administration has done to protect religious freedom, including protecting the constitutional right to pray in public schools. Trump proclaimed, “In America, we don’t punish prayer. We don’t tear down crosses. We don’t ban symbols of faith. We don’t muzzle preachers and pastors. In America, we celebrate faith. We cherish religion. We lift our voices in prayer, and we raise our sights to the glory of God.” Texas Values President Jonathan Saenz shared his analysis of the President’s State of the Union speech this week. | |
