John – as you may know, May is Mental Health Awareness Month. As a parent of an 11 and 9-year-old, I know just how important it is to recognize and talk about the emotional challenges that children must brave, especially while living through crises like conflict, disaster and the COVID pandemic.
Right now, a shocking 14% of children and adolescents worldwide are experiencing mental health disorders – but less than 1% of global health funding is being utilized to support them. They need more.
I feel incredibly lucky that my children haven’t faced these challenges – they weathered the pandemic with their spirits intact, and live in safety. But millions of children around the world do not have that privilege.
That's why as a parent I'm so proud of the vital work we do here at Save the Children thanks to the support of people like you.
From encouraging healing through art to providing child-friendly spaces to help kids cope, Save the Children is committed to supporting children’s emotional and physical needs.
