Young people who are outraged by attacks on queer & trans youth across the country are invited to join our new national network of youth activists called Act Out!
Hi John,
From "Don't Say Gay or Trans," to drag and book bans, to outlawing gender-affirming care — it's been an awful year for queer and trans youth. But we've also seen a backlash that includes massive walkouts, a complete halt to legislation, and record youth voter registration.
If you're a young person (ages 14-24) outraged and angered by anti-LGBTQ attacks, but don't know what to do, don't worry. You're not alone. That's where Advocates for Youth comes in.
Introducing Act Out!, a new national network of young people fighting for LGBTQ equality, justice, and liberation! Young people are the target of these hateful laws, and we are energized and ready to fight back! We’re ready to act out for equality, act out for justice, act out for our lives and the safety of our communities and our friends.
It all starts today as we launch ActOut.org where you can:
-
Sign up to join Act Out!
-
Browse organizing resources from Advocates for Youth and others to help you plan an action or campaign
- Sign up for our Act Out! training series this Pride Month. Every week, our expert organizers will bring you another training on an important organizing principle, and help you apply it to your town, school, campus, or state.
Those who join Act Out! can choose to be added to a Slack workgroup of LGBTQ youth and young organizers across the country. The goal is to support each other, plan actions, and strategize all year long. And we'll continue to provide trainings on topics you request.
The fact is young people are the most impacted by these hateful laws. And the constant attacks at the state, local, and school board level are not only endangering queer and trans youth, they’re also creating a sense of hopelessness. But all hope is not lost! We just need the tools to fight back. That's what Act Out! is all about.
