[[link removed]]CAMPAIGNS UPDATE
May 2023
Dear John
We’re excited to share that this week we’re launching a new campaign calling on
the government to unleash the potential of rooftop solar.
We recently published new content on our website on why solar energy is relevant to the countryside
[[link removed]] and how we can turn the possibility of a rooftop revolution into a reality
[[link removed]] .
Today our new CEO, Roger Mortlock, is here to share a message with you about why
this positive, solutions focused campaign is so important – scroll down to watch
the video.
The last couple of weeks have put a spotlight on our humble hedgerows with over
4,000 of you taking part in Hedgelife Help Out
[[link removed]] as part of The Big Help Out and National Hedgerow Week. A huge thank you from
all of us for helping our hedges!
If you haven't taken part yet, the good news is that you still have until 31 May
to do so. What’s more, May is a great time to get out into your local
countryside and green space. Nature writer Alexandra Pearce-Broomhead explores
what wildlife you might encounter this month – read on to find out more.

CPRE CEO Roger Mortlock shares why we’re calling on the government to unleash
the potential of rooftop solar and how you can get involved in supporting our
campaign.

URGE YOUR MP: STOP THE GOVERNMENT’S POWER GRAB!
The Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill is making its way through Parliament, and
in it is a dangerous new law. This law gives government ministers more say over
what happens on your street than your locally-elected councillors, your MP, or
you. Your MP is one of the few people who can stop the government taking power
away from you and your community - will you write to them today?

WILDLIFE TO WATCH OUT FOR IN MAY
Due to a chilly start to spring, nature has been slower this year, but we
continue to meander towards the peak of the year. This month started with the
spring crescendo of the Dawn chorus, but there's still lots to look and listen
out for in nature as we head into the summer months. Read on to find out what
wildlife you might expect to encounter in your local countryside or green space.
