Dear Friend,
As you may know, last week was National Police Week, a time to show our gratitude for the law enforcement officers who put themselves in harm’s way to keep our communities safe. During my time in Congress, it has always been one of my top priorities to invest in the resources to support our local law enforcement, and I’m proud the House has taken action to reaffirm our commitment to these brave men and women.
Last week, I was proud to vote for H.Res. 363, a bipartisan resolution honoring law enforcement officers killed or wounded in the line of duty and recognizing the important work they do in pursuit of preserving safe and secure communities.
My colleagues and I also sent a letter to the House Appropriations Committee calling for additional funding to support critical law enforcement initiatives at the federal, state, and local levels. This includes increased funding for the Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant to provide resources for local crime prevention, drug treatment, and mental health support, as well as additional funding for Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) programs to build trust between police departments and the communities they serve.
Last year, I was also proud to secure $2.28 million in Community Project Funding to upgrade the Aurora Police Department’s technology infrastructure, including its 911 dispatch center. These improvements are essential for streamlining communication with our first responders, reducing response time, and ultimately saving lives.
As your Member of Congress, I will always vote to support our law enforcement officers and make sure they have the resources they need to do their jobs.
As always, my office is here to work for you. Please don’t hesitate to contact us by using any of the numbers listed below.
Sincerely,
Bill Foster Member of Congress
