Last chance to provide views on Additional HMO Licensing Scheme proposals
Housing
I would urge all local residents, tenants, landlords and letting agents to take the final chance to have their say on a newly proposed licensing scheme for landlords renting out shared houses in Nottingham.
The council wants to hear views on proposals to introduce a new five-year Additional HMO Licensing Scheme for Houses in Multiple Occupation (or shared houses). The current scheme will soon come to an end and the City Council has been consulting on a new scheme covering the whole city - which could run for a further five years from January 2024. The consultation is open until midnight on Wednesday 24 May and people can have their say here: www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/additionalhmosurvey [ [link removed] ]
Additional Licensing is a scheme that applies to privately rented HMOs or shared houses and requires landlords to have a licence for rented properties where either three or four people, who are not related, live together and share facilities like bathrooms and kitchens.
The scheme aims to help ensure safe and decent standards in these homes and contribute to raising the standards of privately rented homes in the city overall. Landlords would be required to apply for a licence, which can last up to five years, for each HMO property they rent out.

Join in with the Big Spring Clean this June
Big Spring Clean
We are excited to announce our plans for Nottingham?s Big Weekend Pick; the first of its kind to recognise the hard work that our Clean Champion volunteers do by keeping our streets and parks free of litter. From Friday 2 to Sunday 4 June, we?ll join residents, businesses and community groups to deliver a city-wide programme of litter picks with frontline teams, staff and councillors also getting involved to show their support.
Check out our calendar on our website of the planned events or simply organise your own. We kindly ask you to complete this short form so we can publicise your pick and arrange to pick up your purple bags. Community Protection Officers will also be out monitoring dog fouling and fly-tipping. Make sure to tag us in your photos on social media or send them to
[email protected]. ?
Are you a volunteer? Take a picnic to the Volunteers Celebration Event in the Arboretum on Saturday 3 June from 11am until 3pm to listen to live music, take part in activities and explore other volunteering opportunities. We hope to see you there!

Roadworks start today on the A610
Roadworks
Work began today to create a new bus lane on the A610. The work will also improve cycle connectivity and pedestrian crossing facilities.
The new A610 bus lane will cut journey times and improve the reliability of northbound bus services, whilst keeping all existing road space for other traffic. The work will take place for 16 weeks and some disruption is expected.
This scheme builds on existing improvements made along the A610 bus corridor being delivered as part of the Transforming Cities Fund Programme.
