Dear NRDC Activist,
We really need to talk about the Willow Project — a massive oil drilling operation that recently broke ground in Alaska's Arctic.
Every climate expert says we're running out of time to avoid a climate catastrophe. And instead of putting the brakes on climate-wrecking fossil fuels, we're turning around and speeding in the wrong direction.
But my friends at NRDC tell me there is hope. They're suing to stop the illegally approved Willow Project from continuing. And if they're not giving up, then neither should we.
I'm throwing my support behind the incredible lawyers and scientists at NRDC right now, while donations are being MATCHED $1-for-$1, up to $100,000. Will you join me?
Donate now and support NRDC's battle in and out of court against new, climate-wrecking drilling in Alaska. Your gift will DOUBLE up to $100,000 until May 31 to help NRDC defend our environment on every front.
As a parent, I can't help worrying: what are we leaving behind for our kids?
The massive Willow Project will unleash hundreds of millions of metric tons of carbon pollution into the atmosphere over its lifetime. Its impact is like putting another 2 million gas-burning cars on the road for 30 years — during a climate crisis!
Not only that, but chemical wastes and toxic pollution will be released in one of the Arctic's most sensitive ecosystems. A place where expansive plains, clear rivers, and pristine wetlands teem with wildlife like polar bears, grizzlies, wolves, Arctic foxes, and shaggy muskoxen.
We can't always change what we've done to our environment in the past. But we can change what we do moving forward. And that includes coming together and putting an end to huge new drilling operations like Willow.
This project is a nightmare, and I really hope you'll help support NRDC's work to stop it.
Make a gift to fund NRDC's lawsuit to stop the illegally approved Willow Project, and every donation will be DOUBLED up to $100,000. Help save critical Arctic habitat and our climate from being trashed by ConocoPhillips.
ConocoPhillips recently started construction on Willow, but they have to halt their work in the warmer months because ice roads melt. No roads mean no heavy machinery. And that gives the lawyers at NRDC more time to try to stop the Willow Project in court before more damage is done.
Trust me when I say that NRDC's legal team has the chops to fight this courtroom battle hard and effectively. They've been fighting to stop powerful polluters for more than 50 years, and they've won countless cases like this one.
But they've got just a few months before construction resumes, and the Willow project is backed by well-funded corporate interests.
Let's give them the support they need to fight to protect our environment on all fronts (remember, your donation DOUBLES up to $100,000)! Not just for our own sake. But for the sake of our planet and future generations, projects like Willow must be stopped.
Thanks for joining me today.
Sincerely,
