This week, my friend Doug Jones made the incredibly difficult decision to convict Donald Trump on both impeachment charges brought against him by Congress. 

Doug is a Democrat representing deep-red Alabama who’s already facing a tough reelection – but he decided to take a stand for what was right. He made a solemn decision led by his conscience, for his state and his country, regardless of any attacks he might face. It wasn’t easy, but he bravely chose our democracy over polling or politics. 

Because of his tremendous courage, right-wing Republican groups are ready to ramp up their efforts to defeat him, after already spending nearly half a million dollars against him last week. John, Doug stood for our country when it mattered most. Politics took a back seat to country and his oath of office – and now, we need to do everything we can to keep him in the Senate.  

Can I count on you to give $5 or more to help Doug Jones keep Alabama blue and continue fighting the corrupt Trump-McConnell agenda? The only way that Doug can compete against far-right special interests is with the support of grassroots Democrats like you.

We cannot afford to lose a voice like Doug’s in the Senate, John. But his race in Alabama and a Democratic majority might just come down to what grassroots Democrats like you do right now, with POLITICO calling Doug the most vulnerable Democratic senator in 2020. 

And if he loses, we hand Mitch McConnell another rubber stamp for his relentless attacks on everything from the future of the Supreme Court to health care for millions to protecting our elections. There’s too much at stake for Democrats to sit on the sidelines, John – and Doug can’t lose his election for doing what’s right:
