Dear John,

Last week, I told you that the Minnesota Senate voted to put a new version of the so-called Equal Rights Amendment on your 2024 ballot. Tonight I learned that legislators are attempting to use this amendment to add an explicit "right" to abortion to the Minnesota Constitution.

The A4 Amendment offered by Representative Carlie Kotyza-Witthuhn which will be considered on the Minnesota House floor tomorrow, would amend the Equal Rights Amendment to include "choices related to an individual's own pregnancy and reproductive health care, including obtaining an abortion."

Tomorrow is the last day of the regular legislative session. That means this bill, with or without this amendment, would need to pass the House tomorrow, AND if it is amended, the amended version would need to pass the Senate tomorrow as well. That's why I'm asking for your help tonight.

Please, take a moment to send an urgent member to your legislators, asking them to keep abortion OUT of the ERA. You can use our system to submit an email OR call your legislators directly.
