I’m Kica Matos — I recently became president of NILC, and I wanted to share a bit about myself and why I am committed to the fight for immigrant justice. I know it can be hard to get a sense of who someone is over email, so I thought I’d share a quick video with you.

We are at a pivotal moment in the immigrants’ rights movement and in our nation’s history. And though many challenges lie ahead, NILC is no stranger to overcoming obstacles. When Trump attacked our communities, we were the first to file a lawsuit against the discriminatory Muslim and African Bans, and to protect immigrant youth with DACA. Together, this team is strong, resilient, and unstoppable.

Friend, thank you for being a part of our work and this new chapter of NILC. I look forward to all that we will accomplish together on behalf of low-income immigrants.
