John, a trusted Supreme Court is crucial to democracy.
But Justice Clarence Thomas irreparably compromised public trust in the integrity of the Supreme Court when he refused to recuse himself from Supreme Court cases involving the January 6 insurrection, even though his wife participated in efforts to overturn the election.
Justice Thomas also likely violated the Ethics in Government Act when he refused to disclose travel and other gifts from GOP billionaire Harlan Crow.
The nine justices on the Supreme Court should set the standard for ethical conduct, but instead we have a court that acts as though it is above our democracy rather than part of it.
CREW has fought for the development of a binding, clear, and public code of conduct for the Supreme Court as well as the establishment of an Inspector General for the federal judiciary to conduct independent investigations and enforce this code of conduct for the Supreme Court.
We want to hear what our top supporters think about our work, and what is going on in the Supreme Court. So we’re asking you to share your thoughts by taking our Supreme Court Poll today → [[link removed]]
