Hi John -

 

Summer is upon us! This is good news for us in the political world
because that means we get to do more face-to-face engagement
opportunities with Americans, especially rural Americans.

Door-knocking is a challenge when the doors are thousands of feet
apart in some instances. What the Summer season offers us is fairs,
farmer's markets, and other opportunities where communities come
together and celebrate one another. As Democrats, we have to make
sure that we are there to greet our neighbors and engage with them.
Yes - we want rural Americans to vote blue, but to get there we have
to win them back and that is what we are working hard to do. 

We have a tough road ahead of us in 2024. I just got back from
Washington, D.C., meeting with some colleagues from organizations as
well as a few of the Senators and their senior staff that are on the
frontlines this cycle.

Senators Jacky Rosen (NV), and Tammy Baldwin (WI) are feeling the
heat. Those races are going to be difficult, so we cannot fool
ourselves and underestimate our opposition.  Mitch McConnel is not
someone to be taken lightly; he is hell-bent on regaining control in
the Senate and he has an endless supply of corporate donors that are
funding his mission of power and greed. MAGA Republicans view this
country very differently than we Democrats do. They crave power and
they only want to see folks in power that look like them and come
from the same socioeconomic background. They view Americans that
struggle as "lazy" and do not believe in promises made by previous
generations...promises like social security and Medicare. I can
promise you this: we as Democrats will defend those rights and those
Americans who have spent their entire adult lives paying into what
they are owed.

Look, I actually read the angry emails, as do the Senators. I know
you are fed up with the political donations and requests.
John, if we had another choice, believe me, we would
explore it.

We don't have billionaires and corporations to turn to, and I am
grateful that we don't. I do not want to be beholden to those folks.
I want to owe it to you and to let you know what we are working
towards, and how we are going about getting there. If you can't give,
then please stay engaged and encourage others to give. If you can,
please do so. You all are the heart of what keeps us going.
