"Haiti is home to thousands of foreign NGOs, big and small, from across the globe. Haitians frequently refer to themselves as the "Republic of NGOs." Distribution of foreign aid is a major employer within Haiti, and is a global industry in wealthier countries. Unfortunately, foreign aid does not translate into much job creation, at least not in Haiti."

Quixote Cooking Series: Haitian Pikliz

Haitian Pikliz Recipe

1 cup of Shredded Green Cabbage

1 Scotch Bonnet Pepper thinly sliced

1 shredded Carrot

1 thinly sliced onion

1 tsp of sea Salt

1/4 cups apple cider vinegar

2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil

Combine in a bowl the cabbage, carrots, yellow onion, pepper, salt and mix all of the ingredients together. Add the vinegar and extra virgin olive oil and let stand for ½ hour and serve.

Catholic Groups Urge U.S. to Promote the Safety & Rights of Asylum Seekers as Title 42 Ends

Last week, we joined 14 other groups in a letter led by NETWORK Catholic Lobby to call on the Biden administration to uphold the human rights and dignity of asylum seekers, rather than restrict asylum access.

We are disappointed that the Biden Administration is replacing one restrictive policy with another: the final asylum ban rule, which will restrict asylum to people if they did not 1) first apply for asylum in another country through which they transited and were denied or 2) use the highly-convoluted CBP One app to schedule an asylum interview. 

 Take Action for Peace in Haiti

Violence in Haiti is ramping up, and tragically 600 people died in Haiti in April alone. A bipartisan effort, the Haiti Criminal Collusion Transparency Act seeks to impose individual sanctions on those responsible for the violence: gang leaders and the political and economic elites who support them. Use this form to urge your Senators to support the bill!
