Anti-Semitic Stereotypes Persist in America, ADL Survey Shows
Amid the worst outbreak of anti-Semitic violence in decades, a new survey released last week from ADL found that more than half of American adults (61 percent) polled agreed with at least one or more classic anti-Semitic canards. Nonetheless, there was positive news as the findings showed that the level of Americans who hold pernicious and pervasive anti-Semitic attitudes has remained at decades-long historical lows: The majority of ADL’s surveys over the last 25 years have indicated that between 11 and 14 percent of Americans intensely harbor anti-Semitic attitudes.

House Overwhelmingly Passes Holocaust Education Bill
On International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the 75th Anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, the bipartisan Never Again Education Act passed in the House. ADL has been working to build upon the 11 states that mandate Holocaust and genocide education in their public-school curricula and continue to support the bill as it moves to the Senate.
According to a

press release from Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY), one of the leading co-sponsors of the Never Again Education Act, the bill allocates $10 million over a five-year period toward programs providing training for teachers on the matter as well as expanding the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum’s website that provides relevant curriculum and course materials.

ADL Launches Real-Time Tracker of Anti-Semitic Incidents
In response to the increased reporting of anti-Semitic incidents and hate crimes in the U.S., ADL officially

launched an online Tracker of Anti-Semitic Incidents last week. The searchable database of incidents will be regularly updated with the most recent information available on acts of hate against Jews anywhere in the U.S. This list is not exhaustive and incidents in the Tracker may be removed if they are determined not credible upon further investigation by ADL.

ADL’s H.E.A.T. Map will continue to provide comprehensive statistics on domestic instances of anti-Semitism, extremism and terrorism. The map will be updated monthly with incidents from the Tracker and should be viewed in conjunction with the Tracker’s list of recent events. Information about how ADL selects incidents can be found

ADL Launches Advocacy Campaign to Protect Victims of Severe Online Harassment - Bipartisan Legislation Introduced in Maryland
Last week, ADL announced the launch of “Backspace Hate,” a national initiative to fight the escalating problems of harmful online activities, including cyber harassment, cyber stalking, nonconsensual pornography, swatting, and doxing. Several states are working to update legislation and raise awareness by introducing bipartisan bills that address severe online harassment that holds perpetrators accountable for their actions online.
In Maryland, an anti-swatting bill has been introduced in both the

ADL and Aspen Institute Announce Open Nominations for Civil Society Fellowship
In this time of rising hate and extreme partisanship, we believe our nation’s next generation of community leaders and problem-solvers would greatly benefit from the opportunity to refine and hone their leadership skills while building relationships across the issue areas and movements from which they come. To address this need, ADL and the Aspen Institute launched the Civil Society Fellowship in 2019.
The inaugural class of Civil Society Fellows included 22 leaders aged 25-45, selected from a pool of over 200 nominees from across the country. These Fellows are journalists, entrepreneurs, government officials, lawyers, educators and designers. They have worked for private industry, nonprofits and in government, including law enforcement. All are proven leaders with a broad array of concerns who have reached an inflection point in their lives where they are ready to apply their talent and skills to build a more civil society.
