From Monterey Park, California to Allen, Texas, we've seen far too many tragic mass shootings so far this year.

Thoughts and prayers are not enough.

I've always rejected the notion that we are powerless against gun violence. Families should not live in fear of gun violence when we have the ability to take action. That's why I support reinstating a federal assault weapons ban.

Reinstating an assault weapons ban would halt the sale, import, manufacture, or transfer of these weapons of war- saving lives and significantly promoting public safety.
