Nikki Budzinski for Congress

Team, Happy Armed Forces Day!

On this third Saturday of May, we celebrate and thank each and every individual who has put on a uniform in defense of our country. Personally, I’m so proud to be the granddaughter of two World War II Veterans, each who fought tirelessly to ensure not just America but the world had their freedoms protected and their rights restored. It is because of both our active military members and our Veterans that we are still able to live in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

AndI’m now even prouder to be a Member of Congress, where I can give back to those who have been a part of our Armed Forces. Earlier this year, as a Member of the House Committee on Veteran Affairs, I created the Veterans Advisory Council – a group of local veterans, active duty service members and stakeholders in Southern and Central Illinois who are helping me bring guidance and recommendations to my fellow Congressional colleagues on how we can improve access to benefits and services for military members.

It’s not enough to just thank these patriots. We must break down the barriers that prevent so many of our military members from receiving the benefits they are entitled to. We must ensure our country supports them and uplifts them from the moment they enlist, and beyond.

So on this Armed Forces Day, I’m asking you to join me in demanding that Congress prioritizes giving back to our military members and their families. Will you add your name next to mine in support of expanding our military’s access to health care and more?

Forever grateful,

Nikki
