Dear NRDC Activist,
There's nowhere else on Earth like the Arctic.
It's not just the vast swaths of spectacular landscapes ... the irreplaceable ecosystems home to millions of species ... or that it's a critical lynchpin in the survival of countless migratory animals.
It's also the place that's warming faster than the rest of the planet — a jaw-dropping 400% faster.
As Arctic ice melts before our eyes, it's shocking that ConocoPhillips received approval for potentially what may become the nation's largest oil development project on public land. And in fact, NRDC is in court right now fighting to stop the project from moving forward because we know the approval process was illegal.
Here's the thing: Everything we do here at NRDC is made possible because of support from committed environmentalists like you — especially at critical moments like this one — so we'd like to know where you stand:
Will you help NRDC stop the illegally approved Willow oil drilling project in the Arctic?
The Willow Project is on a scale like no other.
This ticking climate time bomb would unleash hundreds of millions of metric tons of carbon pollution over its lifetime.
If we don't stop ConocoPhillips, the western Arctic landscape will continue on a path to being an industrial sacrifice zone, forever scarred with drill pads, gravel roads, and other infrastructure prone to leaking oil, drilling fluids, and other toxic materials.
And worse, Big Oil won't stop at Willow.
This project opens the door to oil companies exploiting the entire western Arctic — a region filled with polar bears, caribou, and gray wolves already being harmed by these oil projects.
More sensitive lands and ecosystems destroyed ... more vulnerable wildlife imperiled ... and millions more tons of carbon pollution fueling climate chaos.
With so much on the line, our campaign to stop the Willow Project must be backed by as many supporters as possible ... people like you who have proven time and again your commitment to our climate future.
So as we carefully consider our next steps, we'd love your input.
Will you help NRDC stop the illegally approved Willow oil drilling project in the Arctic?
Thanks so much. We appreciate all that you do.
Team NRDC
