Be weather aware ? especially in spring!
Spring weather in Wyoming can be unpredictable. You might run into hot sunshine, lightning and thunderstorms, and snow ? sometimes all in the same day! ? but that shouldn?t stop you from enjoying time recreating or working outdoors. There are a lot of great reasons to get outside in spring, just make sure you plan ahead and bring along everything you might need. Teal Cufaude, a current wildlife biologist and former warden for Game and Fish, shares some tips she uses when she goes out into the field to make sure she stays safe. Make sure you?re prepared before embarking to have a fun and safe adventure!

The birds are back in town
During the spring, some types of birds will appear in Wyoming that we haven?t seen for a while. Some of these birds are just passing through on their way north, but others will stick around until the fall. Are you seeing different birds in your neighborhood or on the playground that weren?t there over the winter??
Each day, count the different kinds of birds you see, and write them down. Does the number of different kinds of birds increase? You can learn to identify the birds you see by using apps like eBird, Merlin Bird ID, and the Audubon Bird Guide.
2023 PEAK Fish Camp
PEAK Fish Camp is a free mentored program that teaches youth and adults basic fly fishing and introductory upland bird hunting skills used in pheasant hunting. The group will put their fishing skills to use this summer on a private pond east of Laramie Peak while learning more about habitat, conservation, and hunting. The deadline to apply is May 29.

Community fisheries can be found all over Wyoming. These ponds can be enjoyed for most of the year and are a great place to celebrate Free Fishing Day ? just remember that restrictions remain within the Wind River Reservation and Yellowstone National Park.
