John,
Together, we have changed the conversation at dinner tables across the country: as the media pushes for cuts to our social safety net, Americans are instead talking about unrigging our tax code and investing in working people again.
But in the halls of Congress, right-wing extremists continue to demand cruel cuts to services for working families in exchange for not plunging our economy into an instant recession.
As negotiations between the White House and congressional leaders near a tipping point, the media is offering the American people a false choice between Kevin McCarthy’s cruel cuts and a federal default on our fiscal obligations.
We know that our national grassroots network can defeat this conservative media narrative―reminding Congress that when the rich and corporations pay their fair share we can invest in working people and reduce the deficit.
Write to your senators and representative today and remind Congress that the choice isn’t between cuts and default. We have a third choice: making the rich and corporations pay their fair share of taxes!
Together, we’re fighting for an economy and a tax system that works for working people, not just the wealthy few

John,
With a potential federal default less than two weeks away, the media is framing the debt- ceiling impasse as a choice between Kevin McCarthy's cruel cuts and a federal default. That’s a false choice!
We know we can reduce the national debt and invest in our future when the rich and corporations pay their fair share of taxes.
Earlier this year, President Biden put forward a budget that would raise nearly $5 trillion in tax revenue over the next 10 years, investing $2.8 trillion to preserve and expand vital public services for working families while reducing our national debt by nearly $3 trillion. And, no one making less than $400,000 a year would pay any more in taxes.[1]
For two decades, Republican-led Congresses have added trillions of dollars to the national debt through the budget-busting Bush and Trump tax cuts that overwhelmingly benefited the rich and major corporations. Now they are using that same debt as an excuse to hold the nation hostage by threatening a catastrophic default and recession unless they can force through deeply unpopular budget cuts.
Write to your members of Congress today and tell them to reject the false choice of cuts vs. a federal default. Remind Congress that we can invest in our future and reduce the deficit when the rich and corporations pay their fair share!
President Biden and Democratic leadership are fighting back against McCarthy’s cruel cuts, reminding the American people what caused the federal deficit to begin with:
We’re fighting back against the false media narrative of cuts vs. default. But our champions in Congress need our help.
Write to your senators and representative today and tell them to make the rich and corporations pay their fair share of taxes!
With the deadline to a default looming on or around June 1, we’re rallying our national allies, sending thousands of letters to Capitol Hill demanding Congress pass a clean debt ceiling increase, and stop threatening critical services for working people, which will deepen poverty, hunger, and homelessness across the country.
Thank you for fighting back against right-wing extremists who are putting their cruel ideology over the needs of working people.
