Friend, I am reaching out to you today on an important matter — protecting abortion in Virginia.

On June 20th, Virginia faces a critical primary election that will determine the future of abortion access and reproductive freedom.

Incumbent State Senator, Democrat Joe Morrissey, is up for re-election, and while he claims to be a Democrat and caucus’ with the party, his values and beliefs suggest otherwise.

Joe Morrissey has been vocally anti-abortion and has a lengthy history of scandals — including being disbarred twice during his legal career and having to resign from the House of Delegates while being charged with a misdemeanor for being involved with a 17-year-old receptionist at his law firm.

He does not represent the needs and values of Virginians. So today, I am asking you to join me in supporting his progressive challenger, former Delegate Lashrecse Aird.

Lashrecse will not only work to protect the right to reproductive freedom and abortion access in Virginia but fight for the changes Virginians have been longing for. She has been and will continue to be a champion for public education funding, criminal justice reform, and environmental justice.

Virginia voters deserve a Democratic representative that they can be proud of, a leader that they share values with — and Lashrecse is that Democrat.
