It was heartening to see you all and talk about what it means to build relationships and how good governance is key to building influence in our communities. Topics included: How the Constitution is our power source and how to connect with it at the local level. How our Judeo-Christian heritage as Americans is the foundation and template for how we are to operate as responsible Christian citizens. Why it's important, as an elected official or as a citizen, to understand the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), the Open Meetings Act, the art of building relationships and how to run meetings well. The great feedback we received has buttressed our commitment to bring "Go Local" to even more areas in Michigan. Stay tuned and look out for our next one in southwest Michigan in July! We want to extend a big thank you to our conference partners, Salt & Light Global and the Great Lakes Justice Center, as well as our sponsors and hosts: Americans for Prosperity, Mackinac Center for Public Policy, Citizens Liberating Michigan, and We The County Grand Traverse. We remain committed to that mission as we monitor, report and testify on legislation on your behalf as a positive voice for your values. The Michigan Constitution reinforces parental authority in caring for and educating our kids. It's a God-given right that our state recognizes. In section 380.10, it says: "It is the natural, fundamental right of parents and legal guardians to determine and direct the care, teaching, and education of their children."
