Dear John,
I came back from my Freedom Ride late this weekend, and I have spent the last week feeling even more inspired, galvanized, and motivated to achieve ARC’s mission of ending mass incarceration in California. The Members and staff who joined me agreed it was a life-changing experience, and I am so glad that we got to do this together, as a community. Thank you for watching along, for your words of encouragement, and for being a partner in this lifelong pursuit of justice – every ounce of it helped me finish this ride with a smile on my face.
One of the most impactful moments of the ride was when we came across ARC supporters who were visiting their loved ones inside and who shouted out “ARC!” with excitement in their voices as we rode past. It feels good to know that our work is appreciated by the families of our incarcerated community. Through our HART team, our policy work, and with the reentry services we provide, we are proud to support the incarcerated people across the state, as well as their families.
I went on this ride for various reasons but the primary one was to celebrate ARC’s tenth anniversary and all the impactful work we have done so far. To commemorate this anniversary and our impact, we have launched a new landing site, which includes videos from ARC staff and Members, a timeline of our accomplishments, and insights into our future goals. I hope you will take a look, share the site with your friends and families, and feel proud of what your partnership has allowed us to accomplish.
Thank you so much for your support. Your generosity over the past ten years has meant the world to us and has helped us achieve so much. As we pursue our mission, I hope to count on your continued support. John, please consider giving in honor of the reforms we have made and the men and women whose lives we have changed. Thank you again for your unwavering support over the past ten years and cheers to the next ten.
Sincerely,
Sam Lewis
