Hey, friend, it’s Congressman Jamaal Bowman. I just want to make one thing clear:

In her press conference in front of countless reporters, Marjorie Taylor Greene said something incredibly dangerous – calling me “aggressive” and saying she feels “threatened” by me.

Representative Greene wasn’t even using a dog whistle – it was a bullhorn, putting a racist target on my back to her MAGA supporters. It echoes what happened with Emmitt Till and with Mike Brown, and unfortunately this country has a history of characterizing Black men who are outspoken, who stand their ground or who push back as being “threatening” or “intimidating.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene is a white supremacist. Describing somebody’s beliefs – which are clear for everybody to see – isn’t “like calling a person of color the n word,” no matter what false equivalencies she might draw.

This behavior is dangerous and reckless – but we can’t let it stop our movement for progressive change.
