# [#] Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has said that the U.S. could default on its debt come June 1.

We’re fast approaching an unprecedented economic crisis, but the GOP is continuing to play political games with our economy. This isn’t an episode of Succession – if we fail to raise the debt ceiling, businesses, families, and Americans everywhere will suffer the very real consequences.

It’s time to reach a responsible, bipartisan solution before this disaster becomes reality.

The GOP is holding our economy hostage with a ransom note demanding funding cuts for veterans’ benefits, green energy investments, food assistance programs, law enforcement, health care, public education, and much more.

Playing political games when American businesses, jobs, and livelihoods are at stake is downright irresponsible and dangerous.

It’s time to put people above politics. I’m working with my colleagues in the Problem Solvers Caucus to advance a responsible, bipartisan solution, but we won’t reach a solution without cooperation from the far-right Republicans obstructing our path forward.

The American people need a solution before it’s too late. I need you to help amplify our call to action: Tell the GOP to stop playing games with our livelihoods and pass a debt ceiling increase → [[link removed]]SIGN ON [[link removed]]

I won’t stop fighting until we avert this looming economic crisis. Thanks for making your voice heard.
