For Washington state, the 2022?2023 flu year was the deadliest in the past 5years. 261 people died from the flu: 256 adults and 5 children.

Nationwide, between 19,000 and 56,000 people died, with as many as 640,000 people hospitalized. This is a very sad loss for many families across the country. In Washington, flu cases went up starting in late October 2022 and were at their highest only a month later. Flu seasons can worsen quickly.
