Nationwide actions give us hope that this will all come to an end Dear Email, AMP and our chapters have been busy commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Nakba. From historic commemorations at the United Nations to first-ever Congressional resolutions, to protests and actions across the United States and around the world, the Nakba has been at the center of a global conversation this week. We remember, document, and revisit the horrifying events that caused the dispossession of the Palestinian people between 1947-1949 while the Israeli occupation reminds us daily that the Nakba is ongoing and continues to destroy Palestinian lives unabated. This week was the site of extraordinary events in Washington DC. At a historic event on Capitol Hill co-organized by our 501c4 affiliate, AJP Action, a Congressional resolution was introduced by Representative Rashida Tlaib to commemorate and shine a bright light on Palestinian suffering in the halls of Congress. The nation’s capital was also the heart of an AMP-led rally on Sunday with a massive outpouring of support for the Palestinian people and hundreds marching from the Washington Monument to the steps of Capitol Hill. |

Events in New Jersey, Houston, and San Diego brought a sharp focus on the Nakba with workshops, public demonstrations, and actions. |

| | We cannot let victimhood be the full story of the Palestinian experience. As many Palestinians fell victim to mass atrocities during the Nakba, there were many heroes of the Nakba as well. Many Palestinians fought back and refused to be uprooted by the occupiers. Their steadfastness and sacrifice inevitably altered the trajectory of the Zionist colonial project. Today, as we bear witness to daily atrocities committed against the Palestinian people, the heroes of Palestine rise time and again to show us once more that hope is not a delusion but in fact, a certainty in a future of freedom and justice. |
