Pennsylvania Election Results: Rue Won!
Spotlight candidate Rue Landau is set to make history as the first out LGBTQ+ person elected to the Philadelphia City Council! [[link removed]] Philadelphia has never elected an out LGBTQ+ person to city council and we’re proud that Rue will be shattering that rainbow ceiling. Across the country and in Philadelpha, there have been more anti-LGBTQ bills than ever targeting the LGBTQ+ community. [[link removed]] With Rue [[link removed]] in office, we’ll have another voice standing for equal rights.

More Pennsylvania winners include Chesley Lightsey [[link removed]] , who will make history as one of the first out LGBTQ+ people to be elected to the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, Daniel Kolbe [[link removed]] , who will be a strong voice for equality on the State College Area School Board, Tyler Titus [[link removed]] , who will be the first out trans person to ever serve on Erie City Council and Jessica Rothchild [[link removed]] who won reelection and was the first out LGBTQ+ person elected to the Scranton City Council in 2020.
Additional Wins in New York and Oregon
In New York, Cheryl Felice [[link removed]] won her race for South Country Board of Education, At-Large. Cheryl is the only out LGBTQ+ person to serve on the South Country Board of Education!
Seven Victory Fund candidates ran successful races in Oregon on Tuesday, including school board candidates Danny Cage [[link removed]] , Judah Largent [[link removed]] and Gabriela Saldana-Lopez [[link removed]] , and Dana Stroud [[link removed]] for the Mount Hood Community College Board seat.

The Spotlight’s on Virginia Next!
It’s almost time for the Virginia primaries: Election Day is one month away! Spotlight candidate Rozia Henson [[link removed]] will be the first out gay Black man elected to the Virginia legislature, Adele McClure [[link removed]] will be the first Black person and first Asian person elected to the legislature from Arlington County and Danica Roem [[link removed]] will be the first out trans person elected to a state senate in the South. These leaders will combat bigots like Governor Glenn Youngkin, who has targeted the LGBTQ+ community.

Of Victory Fund’s 15 endorsed candidates in Virginia, ten will be on the June 20th primary ballot, including Victory Fund’s own Jonathan Dromgoole [[link removed]] , who will be the first out LGBTQ+ immigrant elected in Virginia!

Anti-LGBTQ Threats Rising
Anti-LGBTQ legislation has horrific real-world consequences. Disturbingly, the Department of Homeland Security notes that as the number of anti-equality bills rise, so too does the number of threats against LGBTQ+ people and gatherings. Read more here. [[link removed]]
