This week we celebrated National Police Week. House Republicans continue to show our full support for our police officers by saying thank you to everyone who wears the badge. Our nation is blessed to have the bravest, most professional, most capable police officers in the world.
In honor of Police Week, we brought a number of bills to the Floor the week to back our men and women in law enforcement who keep our communities safe. The first bill that we considered and passed was H. Res. 363, a resolution memorializing law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. It is alarming that multiple Democrats voted against that piece of legislation to pay tribute to law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty. Why the Democratic Party has moved more and more towards this anti-cop, Defund The Police movement is perplexing. I think most Americans have been shocked by the way that they've embraced this radical idea, but I will always stand up for those men and women in law enforcement who keep our communities safe, and I embrace and hope all others embrace the great work that they do and reward them and reward and thank them for what they do.
We also passed H.Con.Res.40, expressing support for local law enforcement officers and condemning efforts to defund or dismantle local law enforcement agencies. While extreme Democrats wage an unprecedented attack on our nation's law enforcement heroes, House Republicans will continue to stand with our men and women in blue.
While I was in DC, my staff delivered Certificates of Recognition in honor of National Police Week to Police Departments across TX-14. We can't thank our men and women in uniform enough. If you haven't already...thank our law enforcement officers!

This week, Senator Ted Cruz and I introduced the Upholding a Secure Postal System (USPS) Act to require the Comptroller General of the United States to submit a report to Congress on nationwide trends on theft of mail and postal property to the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability and to the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs. This report, required each year for five years, would also include measures the postal service has taken to combat theft.
Postal theft is a pernicious problem nationwide, and our district has fallen victim to this frustrating crime. Galveston County has been the victim of a high volume of postal theft over the last three years. The American public and many of you have lost faith in the postal service after countless checks being washed or stolen, and this bill would deliver the transparency Americans deserve.
It is imperative that the American public can rely on this age-old institution to pay bills and receive medication and other critical daily items. This report will leave the USPS no choice but to address the widespread theft of mail. We will continue pressuring the USPS to address concerns, especially in our district, and provide transparency to my constituents and all Americans.

The long-awaited Durham Report confirmed the FBI and DOJ did not possess any evidence of collusion between President Trump and Russia at the commencement of the Crossfire Hurricane and that individuals at the highest levels of government, including then-President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, were in on the witch-hunt from the beginning.
If they can do this to a sitting president, they can do it to every single American.
DURHAM REPORT FAST FACTS The Durham Report confirmed that Crossfire Hurricane was nothing more than an illegal, unlawful, and unAmerican abuse of power. The FBI and DOJ did not possess any evidence of collusion between President Trump and Russia at the commencement of the Crossfire Hurricane. This report exposes that the FBI should never have launched an investigation. Durham uncovered several red flags that should have dissuaded the FBI from opening its “seriously flawed” Crossfire Hurricane investigation into the Trump campaign. “Throughout the duration of Crossfire Hurricane, facts and circumstances that were inconsistent with the premise that Trump and/or persons associated with the Trump campaign were involved in a collusive or conspiratorial relationship with the Russian government were ignored or simply assessed away.”
Deputy Assistant Director for Counterintelligence Peter Strzok, who officially opened Crossfire Hurricane at the direction of Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe, specifically “had pronounced hostile feelings toward Trump.” The Clinton campaign’s plan to link Trump to Russia was known to the CIA and was briefed to President Obama, VP Biden, AG Lynch, and FBI Director Comey. The FBI made "no effort" to investigate "the Clinton campaign's acceptance of an illegal "campaign contribution that was made by the FBI's own long-term Confidential Human Source. The FBI and DOJ have been turned into activated political weapons utilized against those of opposing views. Articles by The New York Times, Slate, and Mother Jones regarding the Trump-Russia collusion narrative were cited by the report for the inaccurate information they published.

This week, I attended a bicameral press conference on the looming debt crisis. We are standing united. President Biden has waited until 15 days before the debt ceiling deadline to start negotiating a responsible debt limit increase. We urged the President to avoid being the first President to default on the national debt.
House Republicans remain the only ones who have passed legislation that would raise the debt ceiling and take default off the table while simultaneously addressing our nation's debt crisis.
America is the number one economy in the world. And when we get done with these negotiations, America's economy is going to be stronger because we're going to make American companies stronger and put more people back to work, lifting them out of poverty, lowering our energy costs, and more importantly, curbing our runaway spending.

Yesterday marked the 5-year anniversary of the shooting at Santa Fe High School, where 10 innocent lives were lost at the hands of evil. We will never forget that tragic day that forever changed Santa Fe, Texas.
