Fending Off Fentanyl

The Biden administration's open border policies have led to a dramatic increase in the amount of fentanyl crossing into our nation. Synthetic opioids — primarily fentanyl — killed more than 100,000 Americans last year alone. That’s nearly double the number of American deaths in the entire Vietnam War over two decades. We must do more to stop the flow of this drug into our communities.

This week, I introduced two bills, including the FEND Off Fentanyl Act, to address this problem both at our border and internationally. I will not stop working to combat this generational crisis and protect young Americans in Texas and across the nation. Click here to read more, and click below to watch KPRC's coverage of the bills:

Another Step in my Afghanistan Investigation

This week, I wrote Secretary of State Antony Blinken, accepting the State Department’s invitation to review the July 2021 Dissent Channel cable regarding the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan and the department’s response. My letter also insisted that all Foreign Affairs Committee members, especially those on the committee who fought in Afghanistan, be allowed to review these documents. This is another step in my investigation into what went wrong during the deadly withdrawal; it’s time the American people and our gold star families got the answers they deserve. Click here to read more.

FMC's Statesmanship Award — A Great Honor

This week, I was honored to receive the 2023 Statesmanship Award for distinguished service and dedication to our country.

I have always been inspired by my father, who served as a bombardier on a B-17 in the European theatre of World War II. Now I see it as my turn to serve our country and help benefit the next generation.

I'm grateful to the Former Members of Congress who selected me for this award, and I'll continue working to implement policies that improve Americans' lives. Click below to watch my acceptance speech:

A Miscarriage of Justice

As a former U.S. attorney, I know that justice, equality, and impartiality are the bedrock of our legal system. This week, Special Counsel John Durham's report denouncing the FBI and DOJ's flawed investigation into former President Trump's alleged collusion with Russia was released, showing just how miserably the DOJ and FBI failed in upholding those values.

This investigation into former President Trump was done without predication, and coming from our most crucial federal agencies, that is simply shameful. While the rank and file members of these agencies serve the nation with integrity, the individuals responsible for this miscarriage of justice must be held accountable. The full Durham report can be found here

Working for Constituents

My office — like so many others — has seen an influx of constituent requests for assistance with passports due to delays at the State Department. It's my goal to ensure my constituents receive help from federal agencies in a timely and appropriate manner. That's why I joined 194 of my Congressional colleagues in asking the State Department for answers and urging them to provide clarity for constituents. Click here to read more.

Congressional Art Competition

Every year, high school students across the nation participate in the Congressional Art Competition by sending in an original piece of artwork to their representative’s office. We had so many wonderful submissions this year; y'all don't make these decisions easy. After much deliberation, I am pleased to announce our 2023 Congressional Art Competition winner is Ms. Sloane Greeley! Sloane's artwork entitled "Ophelia" will be displayed in the United States Capitol building for the next year.

An additional congratulations to the "Facebook Favorite" winner of my art competition, Ms. Dishita Bajaj. Her artwork was inspired by homes in Austin and will be displayed in my Austin office for a year. We hope you are able to stop by and see her amazing work.

Tune in!

This Sunday, I'm joining Mario Bartiromo on Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures" to discuss the Biden administration's border crisis, debt limit negotiations, and much more. Tune in at 9am CT!
