I'm not taking the NRA's attack on Maryland lying down.

I was just on CNN, explaining to Jake Tapper how we are addressing gun violence full stop in this state.

I've been governor for 5 months, and I've seen how for the past 8 years the homicide rate in our state has nearly doubled. I've seen how in 8 years, the rate of non-fatal shootings has nearly doubled. We are dealing with something that is a nearly decade-long challenge.

My administration is taking an all-of-the-above approach to public safety. We are taking aggressive measures, including:

- Getting violent offenders off our streets
- Tracking and eliminating illegal guns in our neighborhoods
- Supporting mental health services
- Investing in our schools and job training programs
- I ran on making Maryland safer. And I am going to continue to deliver – no matter what the NRA says or does.
