ZOOM ONLY

Tuesday, May 23, 7-9pm

We’ll be voting on
Seattle DSA’s delegates to the DSA National Convention and any Seattle DSA members running for the National Political Committee of DSA

Here are the candidate statements of the Seattle DSA members running to be your delegates to the 2023 DSA National Convention. Check them out to help inform your vote!

Here are the NPC nominations from Seattle DSA members to be voted on by the chapter

Any DSA member in good standing may be nominated as a candidate for the NPC elections through a nomination resolution passed by a majority vote of either:

  • the chapter or organizing committee (OC) of which they are a member
  • any recognized National Working Group or Committee
  • a majority vote by the current NPC

Nomination should not be seen as an endorsement of a candidate or their politics, but as an affirmation that the member is active in the work of DSA and is constructive and comradely towards their fellow members."

Check out SOCIALIST SOUND,

Seattle DSA's new podcast!

“Most left podcasts have hitherto only interpreted the world, in various ways. The point is to change it!”

Produced and funded by Seattle DSA, SOCIALIST SOUND and is hosted by Ty Moore, our Chapter’s Communications Organizer. We dig into the strategic challenges facing frontline labor organizers, community activists, and socialists across the Puget Sound region. We investigate both our successes and failures within the most important class battles in our region in order to politically strengthen ongoing struggles. Our aim is to help weave together today’s fights into the wider movement to replace capitalism with a democratic socialist society.

The landslide victory of a pro abortion rights State Supreme Court Justice in the fiercely contested Wisconsin elections and Brandon Johnson, a Chicago Teacher Union activist and Bernie-crat, winning Chicago’s mayoral race, defeating a conservative, tough-on-crime Democrat, makes clear, if given the option, large sections of working class people are voting for pro-working class solutions.

This follows on the heels of the 2022 midterms when working people also voted for pro-working class solutions: raised the minimum wage to $15/hour in Nebraska, 6 states voted to support abortion rights in referendums, and a majority bucked their own Republican dominated state in South Dakota to extend Medicare funding.

All of this makes crystal clear - if we can get Raise the Wage Renton on the ballot, we have a high likelihood of winning.

But we are certain to lose if we don’t get on the ballot -
sign up today to help gather the signatures to get on the ballot! We have a fighting chance if you sign up for a shift!

Working to create socialism is sometimes … well, a lot of work! If it’s all rallies and meetings and spreadsheets, it can turn into a drag real quick. We think it’s important to have some time to just simply get to know each other, connect over food and drinks, and have fun together — that’s what this social is for! No big speeches, no business, just time to connect with other leftists.

What to expect:

There will be folks to greet you when you arrive and all the DSA tables will be clearly marked. We will set aside a few tables for designated activities (board games / political discussion / etc.)

*Not a member? Not a problem! We’ll have several folks on hand who love talking to new folks! Whether you are a long-time member or just curious about Seattle DSA, this event is for you! It’s fine to arrive late — we’ll be around till at least 7.
