It’s been a year since the universal background checks bill passed the House, moving into the Senate. Since then, nearly 40,000 people have died. We’ve been back to the Hill every single week lobbying for something, anything, to get passed in the Senate on gun violence prevention. And still? They do NOTHING. Senator McConnell’s inaction -- and the complacency of other NRA-funded senators -- is killing us.
Their childish behavior and lack of responsibility cannot continue. On Wednesday, Feb 12th, we will be bringing the power of art to the Senate. We, the youth of America, will be calling out their childish behavior and taking a stand. We will be going from office to office in the Senate and begging them to hear our cries for help.
To every young person who has been affected by gun violence, who has walked out of their high school, who signed a petition asking for change, who tweeted about gun reform -- we need you NOW. This is the chance for our generation to take back our safety and freedom from gun violence. We deserve Senators that represent their constituents and work for our safety -- not play politics with our lives.
