Doug Jones joined me in doing what was right. Now we need to stand with him.

Jack Reed

Friend,

Wednesday, I voted to convict Donald Trump. No person is above the law, not even the President of the United States.

I took no pleasure in voting to convict the president, but our duty was clear. And I'm proud that my colleague Doug Jones joined me.

As the senator from Alabama, a state that President Trump won by 30 points, it took a lot of courage for Doug to speak out for what was right.

Now, right-wing groups are already going after Doug for voting to uphold our Constitution and laws. They think that by defeating him, they can ensure that Mitch McConnell and the GOP keep their stranglehold on the U.S. Senate.

That's why I'm asking you today to join me in supporting Doug at this critical moment. We can't defeat Mitch McConnell and hold Donald Trump accountable without him.

In the Senate, I have had the opportunity to work with Doug on so many issues, whether it is protecting healthcare, fighting to make housing more affordable, or doing right by our service members.

Doug stands up each day for working Americans, despite the possible political consequences. He is a champion for the middle class, and he is a strong voice for our values.

And he did what was right on impeachment, but now he's in the fight of his life. He only won his last election by a two-point margin, and after this, his opponents will only be piling on.

Doug voted to uphold the rule of law and hold this president accountable. Now, we need to show we're standing with him. Chip in to help both of us take on Mitch McConnell in 2020.

Thank you,

Jack Reed
