No one going to the grocery store, their place of worship, the movie theater, or school should have to worry about being gunned down by someone who should never have owned a gun in the first place. 

But in a nation where 110 people lose their lives to gun violence every day, and more than 200 are shot and wounded, that is the bleak reality we face.

For years, DFL lawmakers have been fighting to take action, only to be undermined by Republicans who are too afraid to stand up to the NRA and do the right thing. But no more.

This legislative session, our DFL House and Senate majorities kept their promise to pass common-sense background checks and “red flag” gun safety laws, and today, Governor Walz is going to sign them into law.

This is a historic, long-overdue victory. But NRA-funded Republicans are already pledging to roll back our progress the first chance they get. With a groundswell of support, let’s show them we’re not budging an inch. 

Our team has a goal of activating 1,800 DFL memberships in May. With your support, we’ll be able to fight off right-wing extremists who aim to take Minnesota backward.
