Applications available for trustee vacancy

Newly elected Trustee Luis Perez has resigned his position to pursue an out-of-state job opportunity.

Under state statute, Village President Ryan Kauffman must appoint a replacement, with the advice and consent of the Village Board. The appointed trustee will serve until the 2025 Consolidated Election at which time a candidate will be elected to serve the remaining two years of Perez’s term.

Kauffman is taking online applications [ [link removed] ] for the vacant trustee seat until May 30 at 5 p.m. He will announce his appointment on June 8, and it will appear on the June 13 Board Meeting agenda for board approval.

Walk with Village President May 20

Move with the Mayor saturday

Move with the Mayor [ [link removed] ] this Saturday! Meet and take a walk with new Village President Ryan Kauffman at 1:30 p.m. on May 20 at Prairie Point Park. A nationwide program, Move with the Mayor works with elected officials to help improve residents’ health and raise awareness about the benefits of physical activity.

Don't feel like exercising? Show up after the walk at 2 p.m. to chat with President Kauffman and enjoy refreshments at Prairie Point Park's main shelter. Prairie Point Park [ [link removed] ] is located at 4120 Plainfield Road.

Make plans for Memorial Day weekend at Venue 1012. Start with Country Bash-Oswego Honors Veterans [ [link removed] ] on Saturday, May 27 from 2:30 to 10 p.m. with six hours of country music from three bands. Grab a cold beer or glass of wine and listen to Whiskeyfist with the Alika Arlynn Band and Tim Gleason Band.

Tickets are free for veterans and active duty military and cost $20 for ages 13 & up. Children 12 & under are always free. Learn more [ [link removed] ] and buy ahead of time. [ [link removed] ]

On Sunday, May 28 at 2:30 p.m., return to Venue 1012 for a free  patriotic Tribute to Veterans concert [ [link removed] ] with the Oswego Pops Orchestra and bagpiper Dave Johnston.

Volunteers needed for Venue 1012

Do you love music and being engaged in community events?

Beverage tent volunteers [ [link removed] ] are needed for Thursday and Saturday concerts at Venue 1012. You'll have fun and get to enjoy live music while you serve cold beverages. Volunteers must be 21+ to sell beer, wine, soda and bottled water.

The first volunteer opportunity is Country Bash on Saturday, May 27. Those who work two shifts on May 27 will enjoy a complimentary meal.

Last chance to register for yard sale

If you'd like to participate in the Oswego Community Yard Sale [ [link removed] ] on Friday, June 2 and June 3, you must register by 5 p.m. on Monday, May 22. 

You can host a sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days or just one. The Village helps promote the sale by placing a print ad in the "Oswego Ledger" with lists of neighborhoods and addresses.

The cost to register is $8.00, which helps offset the Village's advertising costs. Follow the steps on this page to sign up by May 22. [ [link removed] ]
