The grovelling has begun. Water companies are "sorry" that the water industry is so terrible. "More should have been done", says Water UK.
Do we buy it? No. This new promise of £10 billion sounds great, but it's coming from taxpayer money – while shareholder wallets keep getting fatter.
Sorry isn't good enough. It doesn't make up for decades of sewerage mismanagement. Or the fact that they're still siphoning off tens of millions to shareholders and CEOs. This new plan just means you will foot the bill, again. And we won't stand for it.
There is one win to celebrate. Today's news shows that our community activism is working – and water companies are on the back foot. But we can't let up now.
