CUT TO THE CHASE

Climate activists have fought to shut down pipelines for years.

KeystoneXL. The Dakota Access Pipeline. The Williams Pipeline, here in New York. Now we’re now going after the biggest pipeline of all -- the money pipeline.

Banks are fueling the climate emergency with every dollar they give to coal, oil and gas. And Chase Bank is the biggest culprit.

Chase has invested $195 billion in fossil fuel expansion since the Paris Accords. That’s 29% more than any other bank.

It’s time to bust their brand.

In concert with 350 chapters and other organizations across the country, we are building a campaign that puts public pressure on Chase, helps people make more ethical banking choices, and demands the bank redirect its investments away from fossil fuels.

At 350Brooklyn’s February 13 meeting, we will share the strategy for this important campaign, especially actions planned around the 50th anniversary of Earth Day.

To get involved in the campaign or join a group divesting from Chase together, email: [email protected], subject line CUT THE CHASE.

Or join us for our first action at the Chase Branch at 490 Fulton Street (at Bond) on February 15 from 10am to 12pm.

“The Biggest Losers” on CNBC

Fossil fuels aren’t just bad for the climate, they’re terrible investments -- the biggest losers of 2019.

As Mad Money’s Jim Cramer said, “I’m done with fossil fuels!” So are we.

February 13 Monthly Meeting

Our CUT THE CHASE campaign is part of a national campaign to spotlight the role of the financial industry in the climate crisis and force them to disinvest from fossil fuels.

Our monthly meeting’s special guest Clara Vondrich, director of Divest Invest, will tell us about the path to success for this hugely important campaign.

One Quick Thing

An Action You Can Take Right Now!

In response to a decade of pressure, last week New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli announced he will “investigate” whether NYS should divest from 27 major coal companies.

That’s good, but not good enough. Not nearly good enough.

DiNapoli oversees New York’s $13 billion in fossil fuel-related investments. And that’s our money he controls.

Not only do these companies destroy our communities and climate, they are becoming graver financial risks every day. We don’t want to put our money, our climate, or our communities at risk any longer.

Sign this letter and tell New York State officials to divest public funds from coal, oil, and gas.
