When I
was first elected to Congress in 2018, I was the only woman physician out
of 535 members.

With the overturning of Roe v. Wade, I believe it’s never been more
important for there to be pro-choice women with backgrounds in medicine in
office. And it’s why I not only passed legislation to codify Roe v. Wade
into law but also authored legislation to protect doctors and healthcare
providers who provide reproductive healthcare.

I will never back down from the tough fights or from doing what is right.

Last year I was universally considered to be one of the most vulnerable
House Democrats – I’m the first Democrat to represent Washington’s 8th
Congressional District in U.S. history and Republicans carried this
district by 20 points in 2016.

Some election analysts thought we would be defeated last November but we
weren’t. And I know we can defend this seat and retake the House next
November if we put in the work now.
