This week, North Carolina became the latest state to enact an extreme abortion ban after the Republican supermajority voted to override Governor Roy Cooper’s veto. Nebraska and South Carolina have similar, or more restrictive, bans rushing through their legislatures. In Tennessee, one word in the abortion bill will likely threaten the future of IVF (that word is “fertilization”) – and all of this legislation is being crafted and championed by MEN.
According to CNN, “The rates of mothers and newborn babies dying during pregnancy, at birth or postpartum are much higher in states that currently ban or restrict abortions than in states preserving access.”
You read that right: mothers and babies are dying due to these extreme abortion bans. This is a public health and human rights crisis, and we need to fight back. We would save lives by electing pro-choice and progressive women to seats where decisions about our bodies are being made – and you can help us make that a reality today by rushing $20 now →

Here are the stats. According to CNN:
🚨 Maternal deaths were 62% higher in states with abortion restrictions in 2020.
🚨 Death rates from any cause among women of reproductive age were 34% higher in states with abortion restrictions.
🚨 Fetal and infant death rates in the first week of life occurred at a 15% higher rate on average in abortion-restricted states.
According to new data from the Association of American Medical Colleges, states with abortion bans this year saw a 10.5% decrease in OB-GYN resident applications. Additionally, according to state-by-state data collected by researchers at Boston University and the Commonwealth Fund, “39% of counties in states restricting abortion access fit the criteria to be considered ‘maternity care deserts,’ meaning there is limited or no access to maternity health care services, such as an ob/gyn, hospital or birth center with obstetric care or certified midwives.”
This isn’t just about abortion access. This puts ALL pregnant and postpartum women in a dangerous and scary position.
This is a scary reality for millions of women across our nation. Republican legislators are more concerned with pushing their extremist ideologies than protecting our lives – or ensuring pregnant women and their babies are getting the care they need.
We are currently working with female candidates who, in many cases, are running against anti-abortion opponents. We must ensure they have the support they need to win in order to protect and reinstate abortion access. Help us rush support to their campaigns by contributing $20 immediately →
